The Immoral Do-gooders: Negative Return

Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it’s yours.- Ayn Rand

Of all the people who do more harm for the freedom movement, the immoral do-gooders are perhaps the worst, who actually provide negative returns (the added factor result in overall decrease for the total production) for the rest of us . While I understand not all of them exhibit the same characteristics, I shall discuss some of the behaviours of these people to inadvertently sabotage us from within.

  1. Having your cake and eating it too: This is one of Rand’s favourite expressions, contradictions do not exist. However, for these immoral do-gooders, contradiction is what they thrive on. Their proclamation to support freedom is dubious when their thought process is ignorant and completely of a collectivist mindset. For example, these people would claim to support gender equality or equal treatment under the law, yet consistently demand discriminatory affirmative actions which in reality, harm the group they so desire to protect, thus their support for these evil acts in fact made them evil-doers. They are so much worse than the ones who do not declare themselves to be supporters of freedom yet behave consistently based on the principle of freedom. If they were to have a language, it would be newspeak (love is hate, war is peace, life is death). (Note: notice how evil the message is, if it was explicit, it would not have been accepted so easily by these people).

  2. Sacrificial demand: This is another one of their horrendous behaviours, they demand others to sacrifice themselves in the name of freedom for their own benefit while they sit back to criticize others when the demand is not met. For instance, I am always happy to help out with things both financially and physically, but appreciation is rarely given as compared to the typical passive libertarians waiting for things to happen automatically. To the even more collectivist people, their favourite past time is “sharing posts on social media”,  that’s it, that’s all they’ve got instead of going out there to show real actions taken place (e.g. mental health is such an issue therefore we need some intervention from someone, somehow, that is, for the sake of the “greater good” it’s fine to sacrifice others via force). What is more immoral than that?

  3. Attention seeking: One of the worst possible behaviours of them all, it signifies everything I am against due to it’s implication of being a second hander. The representation of this is ultimately: INSTAGRAM, honest to God, there’s nothing despises me more than these people’s attention seeking to pretend to do good. The truth is, no one cares whether you are holding up a sign, wearing new clothes of specific images ingrained on it or being all “quirky” (teehee). The reality is, you are not helping anyone or anything. Other social media sites show the same trend in action, I do not mind if these people or anyone are doing those things but if they say they are doing it for freedom then it’s a sign like the leper’s bell, stay as far away from them as possible. (Note: Julie Borowski has increasingly embraced this characteristic when she talks about irrelevant things such as discussing her obsession with the second hander Taylor Swift which did no help to libertarians overall, in fact caused more problems).

My solution to these problems? Simple. Their fascist ideas need to be challenged. By all means, call them out on it, challenge them to a public debate. They may not be fascists intentionally, but they shall be changed through some fact checking.
